Overview

About

Welding Research Department (WRD) conducts many Researches covering many welding materials such as ductile iron casting, heat resistant steels, duplex stainless steels, maraging steels and 9% Ni steel, beside the different alloys such as aluminum alloys, nickel base alloys, titanium alloys, copper alloys, similar and dissimilar alloys. In addition to surface and mechanical properties improvements through for example surface coating of materials using oxyacetylene, arc spray and plasma spray by micro and nano powders, which are also studied in the repair of crank shafts and turbines. Lately the department conducts many researches to manufacture and develop special electrodes for welding and repair of special materials.
