Mining and Mineral Charactrization Department

Mineral deposits are naturally occurring accumulations or concentrations of metals or minerals of sufficient size and concentration that might, under favorable circumstances, have economic value. Economic concentrations of metals or other mineral commodities are known as ore. Characterization and mining of these minerals are crucial for their beneficiations as well as industrial utilizations.
Mining and Minerals Characterization Department (MCMD) carries out basic and applied research on the characterization and structural modifications of mineral deposits that can contribute to the various industrial applications of these deposits, which can add value to these deposits. Mining technologies and facilities for minerals are also targeted in this department to facilitate the extraction of these minerals. .
