When a material is irradiated with an electromagnetic wave, phenomena such as transmission, absorption, reflection, and scattering can occur and the observed spectrum shows the interaction of wavelengths with objects of a discrete dimensions, such as atoms, molecules, and macromolecules. We use JASCO V-550 UV/VIS spectrophotometer to measure the reflected or transmitted energy of a sample by measuring the light intensity/absorbency at a specific wavelength. The system works with an excellent spectroscopic performance suitable for research purposes as well as educational and industrial applications. It has a single monochromator with double beam type and wavelength range of 190 to 900 nm a spectral bandwidth of 0.1-10 nm, resolution of 0.1 nm, accuracy of ±0.3 nm that are sufficiently enough for wide range of applications in water and renewable energy applications.
