Magnetocaloric Refrigeration

Magnetic Regenerator

Cost-effective techniques for Magnetocaloric Refrigeration We are entering the age of the Energy Trilemma: not only do we need effective management of primary energy supply from domestic and external sources to ensure energy security and energy equity, but also we face the challenge of achieving energy supply from renewable and other low-carbon emissions. Indeed, this is required to avoid severe impacts of the climate change. For that, as an alternative to the gas (Freon) compression systems, magnetic refrigeration based on magnetocaloric materials is the upcoming technology. Our group performed a huge number of researches on manganites and showed relatively-high magnetocaloric effects. Currently, we direct our research to development of La-Fe-Si intermetallic alloy by low-cost techniques for the commercial purpose.
